12/28/2023 0 Comments Death spiral gw2![]() ![]() ![]() They have all the success they need right now without the headaches. While I believe personally Blizzard could do it, revive this dying game, I am sure they won't. Some have even suggested that Blizzard buy this franchise, so it could be restored to it's former glory. Some players have called for the sale of the company to another reliable game company. DBG ignores them now, because even though they are breaking the TOS by boxing that many characters, they need the monthly subs. ![]() You mostly see struggling players and guilds, just hanging out chatting, and trying to have fun, and tons of boxed groups running around soloing everything with their boxed groups. While they just came out with a new expansion Planes of Prophecy, it did not have the intended effect of bringing back lost players, back to the fold. This company, which is now Daybreak Games, is about at the end of it's tether. It is a constant joke around the Eq2 player table now. Little to no support to it's customer base, and if they did respond it was almost always a canned response "the game is working as intended". This affected EQ2 dramatically, because EQ2 was hung out to dry. Both games were a disaster waiting to happen, and have been abandoned. They pumped all the revenue they generated from EQ2, into the development of these games, because they thought they could make bank on it. I think, personally, part of this downfall was due to the fact that the game owners decided to make new spinoff games off of EQ2 and similar games like, Minecrat. Recently there were mass firings going on in the company. Whether by design or being forced to, or due to employees leaving the company, is a very hidden detail. Developers and Programmers, ultimately left and went to other games, or merged with other game developers and created games of their own.įor years EQ2 has been run on a shoestring budget, and the least amount of employees they could get away with. The game has been palmed off from one person to another and one company to another. The internal workings of the company, are the biggest issue. They want to keep playing but find the player base is mostly gone. Players in the forums and on the Everquest 2 Discord channel are 'asking" for mergers. There is talk of mergers, not in the near future, but they are discussing them behind the scenes. One day, I used the command on AB, and it returned 63, and on IoR I got 26, most of which were from one guild there. On these servers, using that command at times bring way less than 100. If you were to try and see how many were on any given server at any given time, one could use the /who all command and it would bring back the highest number they will show, which is 100. ![]() Servers such as Antonia Bayle and Isle of Refuge, are woefully lacking in population. The current state of those servers today, are just plain sad for those that are left that still enjoy the game. Taking out the time locked servers and the Russian server, that leaves 5 regular servers. Of these servers Fallen gate is a Time Locked Server, Stormhold was another Time Locked Server that is all but gone, and Thurgadin is a Russian server. Antonia Bayle, Halls of Fate, Isle of Refuge, Maj Dul, Skyfire, Stormhold, Thurgadin and Fallen Gate. Those servers have, over time, been merged down to just 8. So it looks as if EQ2 had in totality approx 42 servers. ![]()
